Economic and Technological Drivers of Sustainable Agriculture: Evidence from a Developing Country Context

Abstract
The study aimed to identify the economic and technological factors influencing sustainable agricultural development in Algeria during the period 1991–2023. To achieve this, an economic analysis was conducted to examine the relationship and impact of these factors. The descriptive method was employed to define key concepts related to sustainable agricultural development and to highlight the most significant economic and technological factors. In addition, the empirical method was adopted using the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) model to analyze the time-series data.
The findings indicate that agricultural development in Algeria during the study period exhibited characteristics of sustainability, driven primarily by the availability of key economic and technological factors. These factors contributed significantly to the overall advancement of the agricultural sector. Moreover, the results reveal a symmetric effect of both economic and technological variables on agricultural output, which serves as a representative indicator of sustainable agricultural development in Algeria over the 1991-2023 period.
